The EU EPBD buildings directive will soon require that owners of commercial property and public buildings obtain Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) in the case of commercial premises and Display Energy Certificates (DEC) in the case of public buildings, these will will also require advisory reports to be produced.
Energy Assessment of such buildings is more complex than the domestic sector, requring different calcuation methods known as SBEM (Simplified Building Energy Model) and DSM (Dynamic Simulation Model) to assess building energy ratings.
New Build EPC will be required for new homes & dwellings using SAP calculations for the production of New Build Energy Performance Certificates, and also PEA Predicted Energy Assessment calculations for partial build and (off-plan) new homes and dwellings. EPCC provide SAP Ratings for new homes and dwellings.
To assist companies and organisations comply with the new regulations a new service is available at EPCC which have SBEM Consultants that specialise in the production of the Commercial EPC, in addition they provide energy certificates for commercial, industrial and public buildings.
Their services also include air tightness testing, air permeability testing and air leakage testing for new build homes, new build commercial property air testing, and existing commercial buildings air tightness testing. EPCC are commercial energy assessors who can provide energy calculations, and EPC's for buildings across the UK. They provide a National service for air testing of buildings and energy certificates. Visit their website for your EPC www.epcscommercial.co.uk
